A Preston supermarket is looking to pick a new charity of the year for its Deepdale store.
AdvertisementSainsbury’s give their customers the chance each year to vote for a good cause to receive donations from the supermarket.
The current year’s charity has been Galloway’s Society for the Blind based in Penwortham who have received £3,900 from Sainsbury’s.
Store manager Mark Fitzgerald said: “Our colleagues have really enjoyed working with Galloway’s and it’s certainly touched the hearts of many of them that before didn’t necessary have a direct link to them.
“We know what an important part they play in the community and we hope the year-long partnership has helped remind our customers of the valuable service they provide in Preston Thanks to the partnership, we’ll certainly now be looking into ways we can support them in the future but all in all I would like to thank the customers for their continued support.”
Money was raised for Galloway’s through bag packs, family fun days and a boat race.
A shortlist of local charities is currently being drawn up and a public vote takes place from Wednesday 28 May to Sunday 8 June.
The voting will be via the Sainsbury’s website.
