The city council have recruited the current Miss Preston to appear as part of the Guild City Games.
AdvertisementCity Games sees businesses and organisations put up teams in a number of different sports at venues across the city.
Stephanie Leeson, 22, was crowned at the Miss Preston event in October.
She said: “I am very proud to be Miss Preston and vowed to get involved with as many community activities as possible during the year.
“When I heard about Preston Guild City Games, I couldn’t wait to join the team, and as I play netball for Wyre in the Blackpool Fylde league, it was an obvious choice.”
Captain of Team Preston netball, Steph Hayes, said: “I was delighted when Stephanie got in touch asking to join in. The City Games is all about the community coming together, competing and having fun. Hopefully the sun will shine on us too, as it did last year.”
The City Games starts with a golf competition at Ashton & Lea golf club on Friday 6 June.
Saturday 7 June sees the bulk of the competition with football, rugby, rounders, netball and athletics at UCLan’s Sports Arena, while badminton and table tennis start at the Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre.
The weekend ends with dragon boat racing at Preston Docks on the Sunday.
Businesses can still register to join in with the City Games via the city council website.
