Prestonians out enjoying the sunshine by the Ribble

Preston has sweltered in plus 20 degree temperatures since Friday as summer appears to have arrived.

Although forecasters predict showers in the next few days Prestonians have been enjoying the spell of good weather.

Including many local photographers who have posted pictures to the Preston Flickr group.

It appeared many people took our advice in nine ways you know summer has arrived in Preston and headed for Avenham Park.

The Ribble looked cool and inviting (although don’t try it) with the blue skies overhead, and the bridges crossing it also looked magnificent.

The Ribble has been a popular spot for anyone with a camera, as Beth Furbey showed in this picture.

In amongst the heat there were a few cooler spots. This is a cracking view of the Ribble from Paul Melling

But it was anything but peaceful as a power boat went whizzing down the Ribble, snapped by Paul McNeil.
