Lancashire Police want to reassure Preston people following concerns about travellers on Ashton Park.

The group on the park at the moment are the same people who camped on the site August 2013 (read our post at the time).

Police say there were very few issues reported to them.

They have spoken with their partners in Preston City Council and Lancashire County Council who have conducted a site visit and have been advised that the group intend to leave next Thursday.

Measures are being taken to lawfully remove the group as soon as possible.

The process can take several days and with the bank holidays this will not be before Tuesday. Bins have been provided for the group to place their rubbish into.

The Lea Neighbourhood team are all aware of the issues and will be paying as much attention as possible when on duty.

Anyone with concerns about the traveller site can contact the council on 01772 906000 or police on 101
