Plans show how the former Rawsthorns Solicitors offices on Lune Street would become 20 studio flats.

Hattrell DS One Architects state: “These basically provide one room living accommodation with all facilities – living and sleeping accommodation, small kitchen with cooking facility and en suite shower room.

“The accommodation is expected to appeal to younger people wishing to purchase their first dwelling, and to older single people who prefer to live in the city centre rather than the suburbs.”

Ladbrokes is expected to continue trading and the owners of the building, Forshaw Land and Property, are looking for a shop to let the other ground floor space.

Lancashire Police have asked for a door access control system to be added, proper lighting put at the front and rear of the building.

The change of use application is available to view on the council website.

Anyone wishing to comment on the plans can do so via the council website or by emailing devcon@preston.gov.uk quoting reference 06/2014/0184 by Saturday 19 April.
