The Lancashire Market on Friargate on Easter Saturday has been declared a roaring success with more than 50,000 visitors.
AdvertisementOrganisers Preston Business Improvement District (Preston BID) say the market saw 50,232 people visiting stalls in the city centre.
The good weather is being hailed as the main driver of increased footfall against last year, when 44,000 visited.
Kevin Barrett, operations manager for Preston BID said: “Really pleased with the turnout. The weather was fantastic.
“Last year was a very good year but it’s great to see so many people visiting the market.
“We are seeing more repeat visitors to the market and also people coming from outside Preston to visit.”
More than 90 stalls lined Friargate selling all kinds of food, drink and crafts.
Speciality burger stall Ostrichdirect, run by Kerry, said they had a “bumper day.”
While cake makers Polka Pops said they hadn’t been as busy compared to the previous Easter but still had a good trading day.
