Both ladies excelled in their respective roles and delighted their audience with tales of the early suffragettes who fought for women’s rights and ‘Annie’ the young mill girl from Preston whose portrait was painted by artist Patty Mayor.

Other events were held on the same day at the Harris which included ‘I’m a Scientist, Talk to me!’ demonstrations by female scientists from UCLan and a talk on domestic violence by Valerie Wise, the Chief Executive of Preston Domestic Violence Services.

Did you go to the Harris this weekend? Let us know in the comments if you attended any of these events.
