Lancashire Life food reviewer and chef Philippa James recently visited Indian Express on Fylde Road in Preston

Indian Express does things a little different to the rest. A specialist delivery kitchens that cater exclusively to the home delivery market. Restaurant quality food, delivered promptly to your door (you have to order a delivery as you cannot buy directly from the kitchen).

Jamie Palmer runs the place, producing Indian food, and gets rave reviews. He previously had a takeaway business in Lancaster but decided to open his own business, Indian Express, in Preston.

Jamie told Philippa that planning laws led to him opening his licensed delivery-only service using online technology to build up a very organised, interactive, customer database.

Jamie feels that online ordering is the way forward, with internet orders by postcode proving very popular as well as via a mobile app. He also splashed out on great looking website and promotion through Facebook.

In the Lancashire Life article Jamie says he learnt to cook what he describes as fusion food with his half Indian wife, Christina, they have made trips to Goa where her mother and father taught Jamie a lot. He said ‘I ask her opinion on everything, she’s been with me every step of the way… I bore her with every detail.’

Jamie is also very proud about receiving a 5 star hygiene rating, so quickly. He also runs Pizza Planet, popular with UCLan students.
