Best in Show at the annual Crufts dog show was won by a local dog.
After winning the Utility Best in Group at Crufts, two year-old Standard Poodle, Afterglow Maverick Sabre (Ricky), co-owned by Jason Lynn and John and Sandra Stone later went on to win top prize.
The Preston Poodle beat thousands of other dogs to qualify for the grand final of Crufts. In the final he went up against just six other dogs at the world’s greatest dog show.
More than 21,000 dogs competed over the four days of the show for the chance to win the most celebrated title in the world of dogs.
Ricky was bred by Mike Gadsby and Jason Lynn, and was handled by Jason, who co-owns Ricky with John and Sandra Stone.
Proud breeder, Mike said: “Ricky is an absolutely amazing dog. Some dogs are prima donnas but this is not the case with Ricky. He really is a regular dog that we can take to the park and let off the lead.
It’s Ricky’s last show in the UK and we’re elated. He’s not shown since December last year and he’s had a good rest and came to Crufts refreshed.”
Jason, from Preston said: “I couldn’t have asked for anything more. He gave an absolutely beautiful performance and I am so proud of him.”
Mike is one of Britain’s most successful exhibitors. His poodle Donny was runner-up to the Best in Show at the 2009 Crufts dog show.
Congratulations to Ricky the Standard Poodle and Jason Lynn, Crufts Best in Show winners 2014.
Crufts is presented by Preston’s own Peter Purves.
