Preston Mayor Councillor Vernoica Afrin opens the International Women’s Day exhibition in Preston today.
Held over two days (7th and 8th March) the exhibition at the Harris will see a series of events celebrating the annual women’s day with special ‘Then, Now and Beyond’ themed displays and activities. The Community Gateway Association will also run events at local community centres in Preston.
International Women’s Day highlights women’s political and scoail rights and raises awarenss of the value of women’s work.
Did you know that International Women’s Day is a public holiday in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Moldova, Belarus and Kazakhatan!
The Mayor will cut the ribbon at 3pm (7th March) in the Discover Preston Gallery in the Harris Museum. Valerie Wise, Chief Executive of Preston Domestic Violence Services will give a speech. The Preston Domestic Violence Service is celebrating their 20th Anniversary this year.
