It’s British Pie Week and Vintage Inns are celebrating it near you.
Pub group Vintage Inns revealed that Brits are a nation of pie lovers, with 1.6 million of them being sold in its 200 sites across the UK each year.
Until 9 March, British Pie Week celebrates everything great about the humble pie. Vintage Inns reveals that some regions are eating up to 3,024 of the classic dish each week.
Chef James Martin created pies for the chain including Chicken, pulled ham & leek which has proved very popular, closely following by Beef & Merlot.
No sign of the Prestonians favourite – Butter Pie, so far.
Marketing manager at Vintage Inns Emily Deaves said: “The pie is a true king of a classic British Cuisine, and our chefs at our sites across the UK take their pie making very seriously.
“We sell thousands of pies each week – especially on Vintage Pie Wednesdays – and it’s clear to us that our guests across the UK love nothing more than savouring our Chicken, Pulled Ham & Leek Pie.
“In British Pie Week….we’d encourage our guests to come along and try them all – who knows, you may find a new favourite!”
Vintage Inns launched a competition on its Facebook page, with the chance for all entrants to receive instant £15 Vintage Inns gift voucher. To enter, people must like their Facebook page and visit the Pie Week App.
Vintage Inns are providing a selection of six pies and a choice of sides on their menu, chosen from a full range of 13 which includes four created exclusively for them by James Martin. As well as the pies above these include Steak and Kidney Pudding, Fish Pie, or Spinach & Pinenut Pudding, Spiced Pulled Lamb, Slow-Cooked Game and Blackberry.
