The University of Central Lancashire’s multi-million pound, state-of-the-art, purpose built indoor facility on the main UCLan campus couldn’t withstand the ferocity of the wind during the recent bad weather.

The 4 to 5 foot metallic panels were torn off the Marsh Lane side of the building hitting the pavement below. Luckily no one was injured.

A University spokesperson said: “The cladding panels fell from the building during the recent storms and the affected areas were immediately cordoned off for safety.

“The replacement panels have been ordered and are currently being manufactured. The new panels will be installed to the usual high level of quality control once they arrive on site. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to passers-by.”
