Saturday 22 February will see the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) inviting Preston residents to meet the stars of its new campaign – #Team999.
The #Team999 initiative was launched to help educate the public that calling 999 will not necessarily result in a trip to hospital in an ambulance as various other care options are available. The service no longer simply sends ambulances to all incidents or takes every patient to the Emergency Department.
Seven members of the ambulance service make up #Team999 and these representatives ultimately determine which route of care the patient will follow. The public can find out how the individuals contribute to each patient receiving the right care.
#Team999 representatives will be available on Flag Market in Preston from 11am up to 3pm and will try and help educate people about the different roles they play within the service, when to call 999 and what to expect when they do.
We are promised big shiny hi-tec vehicles on display plus free stuff to take home as well other interactive activities taking place through the day. The Trust’s mascot, PandaMedic, may also make an appearance.
As part of the campaign, a series of roadshows are taking place across the North West.
