Preston is expected to get a dusting of the white stuff on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow in the city and across Lancashire.

At low levels it is expected to be “slushy deposits of up to 2cm” while higher ground may see 5-10cm of snow.

A statement says: “A frontal system will cross the UK from west to east on Tuesday. As it encounters colder air across northern Britain, a spell of snow is likely. This will be mainly focused across high ground, but some wet snow is possible at low levels for a time.”

The warning is in place from 3am on Tuesday to 3pm and again from 12 midnight on Wednesday to 10am on Wednesday.
