Preston cleans up after the most violent storm to sweep across the city for many years.

Luckily, there were no reports of anyone suffering any injuries as a direct result of the bad weather.

Wheelie bins, tree branches and debris were strewn around by the gales. Damage to fencing and rooftops following yesterday’s storm was reported across the city. with more stormy weather forecast for this Friday and Saturday.

Across Lancashire, the storms left one man dead. Trains on the West Coast line from Preston were either cancelled or stranded as gale force winds stopped trains in their tracks. Trucks on nearby motorways were blown over closing some transport links.
