A 20-year-old man has been jailed after an armed robbery in Penwortham.
Luke Ashton, of Ryefield Avenue, Penwortham, received six years for a robbery at Bargain Booze on Pope Lane.
Ashton had pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of a firearm at an earlier hearing.
The incident took place at 10.30pm on the 30 November last year.
Ashton, wearing a balaclava, threatened a 20-year-old female shop assistant with a shotgun.
He made off with £600 in cash from the till.
PC Dom Webster from Leyland CID said: “We will always seek to identify those responsible for this type of crime and put them before the courts.
“We will simply not tolerate acts of this nature and hope that this sentencing will now make the area a safer place.”
