Transport police want to speak to a woman after a number of Christmas presents were stolen from a train.
AdvertisementA CCTV image of a woman on a Preston to Lancaster train has been released.
The incident happened around 9.20pm on Wednesday 18 December.
PC Nick Lee, from British Transport Police, said: “A 24-year-old woman was travelling home for Christmas and had placed all the presents for her family in a brown Levis bag which she placed behind her seat on a TransPennine Express service from Preston to Lancaster.
“However, when she came to leave the train she noticed the bag was missing and presumed it had been stolen.
“Enquiries to date have enabled us to determine that a second woman boarded the train at Preston, travelled the short distance to Lancaster, and left the service with the victim’s bag.
“This was a distressing incident for the victim who was making her way home for a family Christmas which was utterly ruined by the criminal activities of this thief.
“I am determined to trace the person responsible and am now calling on anyone with information about the incident, or who recognises the woman in the CCTV to come forward.”
