Fire fighters attended the incident on Sidegreaves Lane, Lea, just before 10pm on Christmas Eve.

The man was cut free from the car using hydraulic cutting equipment.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital.

A crew from Preston Fire Station also put out a fire started deliberately in a pile of rubbish behind the Bluebell pub on Back Grimshaw Street around 11pm.

Neither incident was affected by the strike organised for Christmas Eve by the FBU, as resilience crews dealt with both incidents.
