Great British Railway Journeys: Portillo returns to Preston

Railway enthusiast Michael Portillo returns to Preston for the latest series of the popular BBC TV show Great British Railway Journeys.

Series 5 takes the ex-politician throughout the North and North West of England exploring places like Manchester, Chesterfield, Rochdale and Haworth.

Carrying his trusted old copy of Victorian cartographer George Bradshaw’s Railway Companion Michael re-visits Preston to celebrate Victorian trade with the famous Preston Guild before heading off to Rochdale and Hebden Bridge.

Michael last visited Preston way back in series one when he learnt about the temperance movement and investigated the founding of Teetotalism in the town.
