Fire crews called to wheelie bin fires in Preston despite strike action

Preston’s fire crews still dealt with a number of call-outs despite the strike last night.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service atteded a handful of nuisancce fires involving wheelie bins in the city.

The incidents took place during 6.30pm and 11pm when stand-by crews were on duty.

A total of 19 incidents were attended by firefighters across Lancashire.

A spokesman from the service said: “We would like to remind members of the public that a further strike is planned for Monday morning between 6am and 8am.

“Please take extra care during this period especially if you are travelling to work or cooking your breakfast.”
