Witnesses are being sought after three armed men tried to break into a Ribbleton house.
AdvertisementLancashire Police say the incident took place on Chester Road just after 11pm on Tuesday.
The men, armed with a blade, tried to gain access through a rear door but the occupiers of the house managed to stop them entering.
The rear door window was then smashed and the attackers ran round to the front of the house and smashed a window of the front door.
A mother and her teenage son were left terrified as the three men, unable to enter the house, left the street.
Detective Inspector Keith Lee from Preston Police said: “It is clear this house has been deliberately targeted and I would stress that we believe this is an isolated incident and we have reassurance patrols in the area.
“An investigation is underway but I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any information that could assist with our inquiry to contact Preston Police on 101.”
