The Ribble Steam Railway and Museum on the Docklands has been highlighted by Visit England for its excellent visitor experience.

The Quality Rose has been bestowed on the railway, which is run entirely by volunteers.

Chris Vere, the assessor for Visit England said: “Much enjoyed the visit with the sunshine really a bonus. You now rate as an excellent visitor experience – the nicest thing we can say.”

Ribble Steam Railway has been winning rave reviews on Trip Advisor and now ranks as one of the top attractions in the city and surrounding area.

Marketing director of the railway and museum, Chris Mills, said: “It makes all the hours of dedication to our hobby worthwhile when we see how happy our visitors are to the railway and museum.

“We have just had a very successful Steam Gala and still to come are a Diesel Shunters weekend, Halloween Family Fun and our very popular Santa Trains which are already booking.”
