Rescue teams search for man in the River Ribble

Rescue services have spent the evening trying to locate a man who got into difficulties on the River Ribble.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to a stretch of the river close to Maritime Way near Preston Dock at 7.16pm.

The coastguard and a lifeboat were also involved in the search.

A report had been made of a man in difficulty in the water.

Crews were stood down at 9pm and the police’s underwater unit will continue the search on Monday morning.
