A group of travellers have arrived on Ashton Park.

Preston City Council have started eviction procedures after the caravans arrived on Thursday.

Paul Melling snapped this photo of the caravans in the park.

A council spokesperson said: “We have spoken with the travellers who have assured us they plan to move on by the weekend and left them with bags to try and minimise waste on the park.

“We are working with the police and have commenced the eviction process.

“Any residents with concerns should contact us.”

Anyone with concerns about the traveller site can contact the council on 01772 906000 or police on 101.

Their arrival comes as councils are being reminded by the government on how to deal with travellers.
