CCTV images have been released by police of two women they would like to speak to following the theft of telephone cards.
A substantial amount of the cards were stolen from the Adelphi Express newsagent on Adelphi Street on Saturday 3 August.
At around 12.20pm two women entered the store.
Police say footage shows whilst one distracted the lone cashier, the other reached behind the counter and grabbed a box of international calling cards which were placed into a handbag.
PC Paul Goulding said: “While one woman engaged the cashier in conversation, the other took advantage and was able to steal a substantial amount of telephone cards.
“We are very keen to speak with the women on CCTV, if anybody recognises them, or has any information about this theft, they are asked to call police.
“I am also keen to speak with anybody who may have been offered these types of calling cards in the local area or beyond.”
Anybody with any information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
