Police in Preston have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder following an assault in Walton le Dale.
AdvertisementA 35-year-old man is being held in custody after a 48-year-old man was found with injuries to his head.
Detectives also believe he may have been strangled with a chain during the incident on a field off London Road.
A man and a woman who were in the area on their bikes at the time and police want to speak to them.
Detective Inspector Keith Lee said: “Detectives are currently investigating a serious assault which occurred on land just off London Road in Preston last night.
“We have made an arrest in connection with this but enquiries are still on going and in particular we are very keen to speak to the two people mentioned as they may have information that could assist us.”
The victim is in hospital in a stable condition.
