Fulwood fire crews battle lounge blaze as two people hospitalised

A fire in Fulwood has seen two people taken to hospital.

Fire crews were called out at 12.34pm on Monday to deal with a bin fire.

The fire which started in the lounge has destroyed furnishings at the Athelstan Fold home.

Fulwood fire engines were dispatched and used two sets of breathing apparatus to rescue the homeowners.

They were taken to Royal Preston Hospital for a precautionary checkup for suffering smoke inhalation.

There was light smoke damage to the rest of the property.
