Chief superintendent Tim Jacques, who is divisional commander for Preston, will be posting updates about police activity.

He said: “I want to use Twitter to keep communities up to date with what Preston Police do, get to understand local resident’s concerns and share vital and sometimes not so vital information.

“This gives the public the chance to interact with me as their area commander, add their comments good or bad, and ask questions.”

You can follow him @ChSuptJacques and boost his follower count from 200.
