Police are hunting armed robbers who burst into a computers games store in the city and threatened its owner.
AdvertisementThree men entered the Zap Zone stre on Plungington Road at 3.50am on Tuesday 9 April.
The owner of the store was knocked to the ground and threatened with what was believed to be a handgun.
He had been preparing stock for a car boot sale. The three men demanded money before leaving on foot.
Police have not said at this stage whether anything was stolen.
Detective Inspector Paddy O’Neill said: “The victim has been left traumatised by what has happened. The level of violence used was both unnecessary and unacceptable.
“Whilst offences involving a firearm in our city are relatively rare, the people involved in this incident are dangerous and we need the public’s help in identifying them. We believe these suspects are local.
“If anybody has any information about this incident or saw anything suspicious in the area on the night in question then I would urge them to contact police.”
Anybody with any information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
