Preston police have issued a CCTV image of a man they need to trace after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in Preston town centre in December 2012.
The incident is believed to have taken place between 3am and 4am on Sunday 9th December at Ringway when the 20 year old victim was walking home after a night out.
Following an investigation police have obtained CCTV footage of a man seen nearby who they are keen to speak with, although they insist it is possible he is completely unconnected to the investigation.
DC Mark Burns from Preston CID said: “I would appeal to anybody that recognises the man in the CCTV image to come forward and contact police on 101 quoting log reference LC-20121209-0304.
“I would reiterate that he may be completely unconnected to this incident but we need to trace him so we can eliminate him from our enquires.
“Understandably the victim of this sexual assault is still coming to terms with her ordeal and our investigation is on-going.”
