St Catherine’s Hospice Care, an adult hospice serving people from Preston and the surrounding area, has arranged their first ever charity Big Bike Ride.
On 12 May this year anyone with a passion for cycling can help support their local Hospice. There will be two rides designed for cyclists of all ages and ability. A great fun day out for all the family!
The Challenge Ride, which is 50 miles, starts and finishes at the UCLan Sports Arena in Preston and takes you through the Fylde and into the Wyre Valley then up towards wood–lined lanes with great views of the Bowland fells, then south to the outskirts of Preston. Refreshments will be available along the route.
The Fun Ride, 20 miles long, again starts and finishes at the UCLan Sports Arena. It follows the Preston Guild Wheel cycle track. A gentle traffic-free loop that takes you on a tour around beautiful parks, rivers, docklands and countryside. Stop at Brockholes Nature Reserve for a bite to eat and a refreshing drink whilst you take in the stunning views then back to the UCLan Sports Arena, where the route finishes.
Both routes are fully signed and marshalled with support and First Aid vehicles on route.
Go to the St Catherine’s website here for details of how to register and for maps of the cycle routes.
Registration for those aged 18 and over is £20. Aged 17 and under it is £10
