On the run prisoner found in Manchester

Police have reported that Brian Lynch, the prisoner who absconded while on a day out in Preston, has been found at an address in Manchester.

Lynch was arrested in the early hours of this morning at an address in Gorton area of Manchester. He will be charged with absconding and will be sent back to prison.

He has now been charged with escaping from lawful custody and will appear at Preston Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Police state that a 40 year old woman has also been arrested for harbouring an escaped prisoner and both are currently in police custody in Manchester. She has now been released on bail until April 9.

Lynch absconded from Preston City centre on 7 March during a day release. He was jailed in 1988 for the killing of 21-year-old Chi Yeung Yip in Manchester. He was moved to serve the remainder of his sentence at Kirkham Prison in December 2012.
