As part of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) Green Week, artist Jac Scott installed a commission piece for the university called ‘Picture this… gold in their hands.’
His artwork sits just outside the PR1 Gallery just off Fylde Road and is a temporary, interactive public sculpture that he says is designed to ‘harnesses the grandeur of the traditional gilt frame to highlight our consumption of plastics.’
The piece was originally set up as just an empty gilt frame and the idea is that over the course of Green Week UCLan students will create a picture within the frame made from discarded plastic bags.
Jac says ‘I was approached by the Green Team at UCLan to design a sculpture that the students could not only work with on their own, to showcase their skills, but also to draw attention to environmental issues they were interested in.’
The picture above shows the current state of the interactive artwork.
