Want your children to be more musically involved in Preston?
Lancashire Music Service and the Lancashire Grid for Learning (LGfl) are offering your 7 to 11 year olds the chance to join the Preston Children’s Choir.
The aim of the Lancashire Music Service is to enable and encourage access for all Lancashire schoolchildren and young people to musical experiences, bringing them the best music-making opportunities available.
The LGfl works in partnership with all Lancashire’s schools, helping and supporting them to meet their aspirations in providing a wide range of high quality musical activities for their pupils.
Recent studies have found that regularly engaging in music in groups may improve children’s ability to empathise with others.
Cambridge University researchers compared empathy skills in children who played weekly music-based games for a year with those who did not. They found the musical group scored higher in end-of-year tests of how well they recognised other people’s emotions.
So if you want to help boost empathy in your children why not encourage them to join the group music sessions.
