New Cannon Street alleygates in a bid to cut crime in the city centre.

We recently reported on the new set of gates put in place on a Preston alleyway behind Cannon Street in a bid to cut crime in the city centre.

Today, PC Bryanna Collier, community beat manager for the city centre together with representatives of local Preston businesses officially opened (or should that be closed) the new gate on Cannon Street.

PC Collier, worked with both the council and local businesses for three years to get funding for the new gates.

Already, the local businesses report a downturn in anti-social behaviour in the immediate area now the ‘rat-run’ behind Cannon Street has been closed down.
