The Market Kitchen returns this December for a festive food demonstration.

Preston Council has helped arrange a cooking demo at one of the stalls inside Preston Indoor Market. This is a great opportunity to watch expert nutritionists talk about and prepare very healthy winter warmer recipes

The demonstration provides a great opportunity to not only watch how the dishes are made but to sample the food as well. There will be free recipe cards to take away for you to try at home.

On the menu this time are wonderful wintery cinnamon apples and festive warm winter fruit salad.

If you can’t wait to try it this is the recipe for cinnamon apples:

You will need

1 cooking apple

1 tablespoon of water

½ teaspoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon of sultanas

1 dessertspoon of golden granulated sugar or honey. Makes enough for 1 person

Method

Peel, core and slice the apple

Put the apple slices into a small pan with a tablespoon of water

Simmer very gently for about 5 minutes until the apple is soft

Stir in the cinnamon and sultanas

Taste before serving adding sugar or honey to sweeten if necessary

Tips!
✓ Try serving chilled with a tablespoonful of thick natural yoghurt
✓ Try cooking pears and adding ginger instead of cinnamon as a variation
Nutritional Information
✓ Apples are a good source of antioxidant vitamins and minerals
