A great family weekend out in Preston.
This weekend at the Ribble Steam Railway and Museum on the docks at Preston will be the one weekend of the year when the steam engines get a break and diesel shunter engines come out to play.
From the Railway site: ‘Every year the railway tries its best to present something a little bit different and this weekend will be the first time that you can ride behind the Sentinel Shunters on passenger trains. These locomotives are normally only used on the Ribble Rail commercial operation hauling the bitumen tankers along the line and one engine has recently returned from helping out on the construction of the new Manchester Metrolink lines.
Full details of the special timetable can be found on the railway’s website www.ribblesteam.org.uk
