Diamond Jubilee flower display vandalised in Preston park

The white balls on top of the flower display crown have been taken

Vandals have struck a flower display commemorating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The flower crown in Avenham and Miller Park was targeted on Sunday and the white balls from the top of the crown along with another piece have been taken.

Blog Preston reader Cathryn Brown tweeted us and send in these photos to express her disgust.

She said: “I’m sad about it. It’s only been there a month, it’s such mindless destruction. It’s frustrating because council money will have to be spent to fix it that could have been spent on other things, and if it keeps getting damaged it will eventually be removed.

“Then folks will think that the people of Preston can’t be trusted with nice things.”

Ms Brown said she returned on Sunday afternoon to find it had been tidied up but not repaired.
