This week’s pet of the week is a devoted dog called Finney.Advertisement
He follows his owner Dave Carr everywhere. Dave’s walks with Finney have spawned the popular Preston Walkies blog.
So here’s a bit more about Finney by Dave:
I don’t normally describe Finney, our five year old English Springer Spaniel, as a pet. I’d describe him as a companion, always there, always listening, always loving. His attention is unconditional whether we’re watching TV, strolling down the street on a morning walk or hiking on the West Pennine Moors.
Over time I’ve learnt to understand what makes him tick. I know when on rare occasions the conditions are so bad he needs the extra warmth of a jacket. Equally, he’ll tell me (as he did the day after this photo was taken when he refused to walk until I took it off) that he wouldn’t be seen dead in it!
More than anything I’ve learnt something about responsibility, the need to care for a living thing that will always depend on me, for as long as he lives. It’s not a hard task though, bringing a dog in to our lives was one of the best things we’ve ever done. Looking back over the five years of blogging on our Prestonwalkies blog is a reminder of how great life, and a dog, can be.
So that’s Finney, but now it’s your turn. If you’d like us to feature your pet then get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org – write us 200 words on your pet, and send us photos (and video) of your animal friend and we might feature them here.
