Preston City Council has launched its new website, claiming it will make it easier for residents to access services online.
AdvertisementAround £40,000 has been ploughed into improving the website over the next three years, including making it work better on mobile phones and tablets.
Leader of the council Peter Rankin said the site should save the council money, as more people can complete tasks such as paying council tax or booking leisure centre classes online.
He said: “The new site offers 24/7 online services to residents meaning people can use these services without having to come to the Town Hall.
“This is a three year investment of around £40,000 which will save the council significant sums of money in the future as we aim to deliver more services online.
“We are also investing in responding to the huge growth in people using mobile phones and other mobile devices to access the internet and our services.
“We think mobile usage will increase massively over the next couple of years, so we are ready now to respond to the changing needs of our customers.”
