Four reports have been received over the past two weeks of bags or items from bags being stolen from Avenham Park whilst they were left unattended.

Insp Eddie Newton said: “It appears that whilst residents have been enjoying the sunshine and the facilities the city has to offer, some opportunistic thieves have taken their chance.

“I would urge people to always keep their belongings on them and not leave them unattended.”

Anyone with any information can report it to the police on 0845 1 25 35 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.  Crime prevention advice can be found at www.lancashire.police.uk.
