The Ribble Steam Railway, on Chain Caul Road, Preston, is getting all ‘Steamed Up’ as many of the engines have been given big smiling faces for the three day event. Two of the Friendly Engines have been picked to double-head the train rides, which run across the Dock Swingbridge past the Preston Marina and runs for a mile alongside the River Ribble, every hour – on the hour from 11 AM to 4 PM each day.
As well as hourly train rides the Railway Centre has a few extras lined up to make it a fun day for families & kids. There is free face painting & kids party music and the Big Narrow Gauge Diesel will be chugging up and down the full length of the main museum. There is no need to book and your tickets are valid all day and for all trains. There is ample free car parking directly outside the centre.
The Ribble Steam Railway is run entirely by volunteers, visit the workshops to see the latest projects including the History of Preston Docks.
The majority of your visit is undercover so it is a great day out even on a typical Bank Holiday!
