Fake Moon Simon FaithfullIf you’re in Preston city centre this Friday or Saturday evening (26th & 27th March) keep your eyes peeled for a ‘Fake Moon’ rising over Preston Bus Station. Yes folks this odd lunar apparition will be arcing across one of Preston’s beloved landmarks at approximately 8pm!

The ‘moon’ is actually a gigantic, internally lit balloon and is an installation piece to launch Simon Faithfull’s ‘Recent Findings’ exhibition at the Harris Museum and Art Gallery. Fake Moon was first spotted at Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire as part of the Big Chill Festival’s Art Trail in 2008. The installation mimicked the lunar path on a still, moonless night, illuminating the festival.

The event is part of the Spring 2010 Abandon Normal Devices (AND) Festival of New Cinema and Digital Culture.  Further events will be taking place in Preston & across Lancashire and Cumbria. Check website for details.
